Music from the Heavens/Holistic Corner: Hard Knock Life

annie-2014-poster-570x845I woke up last week with this song in my head: “It’s a Hard Knock Life.” The next day my husband’s Dad, fell face first in the concrete outside the fifth wheel and did a face plant right in front of me. It was horrible, horrible to watch and horrible because he got hurt. I pondered the reason I had gotten the song the day before for the obvious reason as a warning that something was coming, but as I watched him get all kinds of stitches I realized that this is sometimes how you get your lessons. The are very hard knocks and the older you get, the more set in your ways you are and it takes a ton of energy to change a behavior. Most won’t/can’t do it. Most have had the behaviors for years and years that they are so ingrained in them it’s like a second nature to behave that way.

When you tell someone over and over again that if they keep doing the same thing there will be consequences, some are light and some are heavy. My father in law asked, “why do I keep hurting myself?” and I am thinking, “because you don’t learn any other way.” Harder lessons come for harder minds. 2 x 4 therapy….

Hard knock lives can come because of Karma or Soul lessons. The only thing you can do is try to be open to lessons and when spirit is talking to you, if you see a pattern keep happening, look and see where you are being inflexible in your world, where you are not listening and seeing. When you don’t listen, you have to learn. Honestly allot of people are this way, they only learn by very hard knocks. It is very frustrating, painful and sad for those looking on, that of course can see things that you cannot. It is especially hard if those are family and friends that you are emotionally attached to. To watch another suffer when it can be avoided is one of the worst kinds of emotional pain. You feel so HELPLESS.

It reminded me of my Dad. Oh how I wished things could have been different for my Dad. How I wished he wouldn’t drink and eventually kill himself with alcohol. The 12 year old would cry herself to sleep at night knowing even at that young age that he wasn’t going to be around much longer if he kept it up. The Doctor had already warned him, “This is your last chance to change.” He didn’t and I had to watch him suffer terribly and die at 42. I didn’t understand it. I am still working on that trigger to this day to release it…interesting enough the video says “1982” the year my Dad died..and of course there is a new version coming out this month..See the universe has such a sense of humor!

I pray every day to change my behaviors that are keeping me stuck…it’s not easy to look at oneself and see with clarity your shadows that have to be brought up for release and understanding. This is why we have so many teachers and tools to work on yourself. There really is no excuse except for your own stubbornness that you continue to have a “Hard Knock Life.”..Life can be as hard or as easy as you make it….xo

[ORPHANS]
It’s the hard-knock life for us!
It’s the hard-knock life for us!
[ANNIE]
‘Steada treated,
[ORPHANS]
We get tricked!
[ANNIE]
‘Steada kisses,
[ORPHANS]
We get kicked!
[ALL]
It’s the hard-knock life!
Got no folks to speak of, so,
It’s the hard-knock row we hoe
[ANNIE]
Cotton blankets
[ORPHANS]
stead a wool
[ANNIE]
Empty Bellies
[ORPHANS]
‘Stead a full!
[ALL]
It’s the hard-knock life!
[ANNIE]
Don’t it feel like the wind is always howl’n?
[KATE AND TESSIE]
Don’t it seem like there’s never any light!
[ANNIE and MOLLY]
Once a day, don’t you wanna throw the towel in?
[PEPPER,JULY]
It’s easier than putting’ up a fight.
[ANNIE]
No one’s there when your dreams at night get creepy!
No one cares if you grow or if you shrink!
No one dry’s when your eyes get red and weepy
[ALL]
From all the cryin’ you would think this place’s a sink!
Ohhhh!!!!!!!
Empty belly life!
Rotten smelly life!
Full of sorrow life!
No tomorrow life!
[MOLLY]
Santa Claus we never see
[ANNIE]
Santa Claus, what’s that?
Who’s he?
[ALL]
No one cares for you a smidge
When you’re in an orphanage!
It’s the hard knock life
[MOLLY]
(Making a whistling sound and imitating Miss Hannigan)
You’re gonna clean this dump till it shines
like the top of the Chrysler Building.
[ORPHANS (Except Molly)]

Yank the whiskers from her chin
Jab her with a safety Pin
Make her drink a Mickey Finn
I love you Miss Hannigan
( Molly)
Get to work!
Strip them beds!
I said get to work!
[ALL]
It’s the hard-knock life for us
( Molly)
Merry Christmas (in background)
It’s the hard-knock life for us
No one cares for you a smidge
( Molly)
Merry Christmas (in background)
When your in an orphanage
It’s the hard-knock life!
It’s the hard-knock life!
It’s the hard-knock life!
